The backup battery holder maintains physical and electrical connection between the battery and RTC circuit through spring-loaded contacts. When main power is available, the RTC operates from the primary supply while the battery remains in standby. During power loss, the battery automatically supplies power to the RTC chip through the holder's conductive path, preventing data loss and maintaining time accuracy.
