Operates by establishing a controlled conductive path between the cable's outer semiconductor layer or metallic sheath and the grounding system. It equalizes electrical potential across the termination surface, suppresses partial discharges, and directs any surface currents safely to earth, maintaining the integrity of the insulation system.
