Control buttons and panels are electromechanical assemblies that provide the primary physical interface between human operators and industrial machinery. They consist of push buttons, selector switches, indicator lights, emergency stops, and membrane panels integrated into a protective housing. These components translate operator inputs into electrical signals that control machine functions like start/stop, speed adjustment, mode selection, and safety interlocks. Modern versions incorporate programmable logic, touchscreens, and network connectivity for integration with industrial automation systems.

Control buttons operate through mechanical actuation (pressing, rotating, or toggling) that changes electrical contacts or sensor states. Push buttons typically use momentary or maintained contact mechanisms. Selector switches rotate to different positions to change circuit connections. Emergency stops use a latching mechanism that requires manual reset. Panels integrate multiple components with wiring that connects to control systems (PLCs, relays). Touch panels use capacitive or resistive sensing layers behind protective surfaces. All components follow fail-safe design principles where critical safety functions default to safe states upon failure.
