Control buttons and switches are interface components installed on control panels that allow operators to manually initiate, stop, adjust, or select functions of industrial machinery. They convert mechanical actuation into electrical signals that control motors, actuators, valves, and other system elements through programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or direct wiring. These components include push buttons, toggle switches, rotary selectors, emergency stops, and illuminated indicators, designed for reliable operation in industrial environments with considerations for durability, safety standards, and ergonomic access.

Control buttons and switches operate on electromechanical principles where physical actuation (pressing, toggling, rotating) changes the state of internal contacts. Momentary buttons use spring-return mechanisms to make temporary contact, while maintained switches lock in position to keep circuits open or closed. Electrical signals from these components are transmitted to control systems (PLCs, relays) which interpret commands to execute machine functions. Illuminated versions incorporate LEDs or lamps to provide visual status feedback. Emergency stop buttons feature positive-opening contacts that physically break circuits independently of electronic controls for safety compliance.
