A diffuser plate is a critical component within nozzle/diffuser arrays, engineered to manage fluid dynamics by converting high-velocity, low-pressure flow into low-velocity, high-pressure flow. It features a series of precisely designed channels or perforations that expand the flow area, promoting uniform distribution, minimizing turbulence, and preventing flow separation. This component is essential for applications requiring controlled mixing, spraying, or dispersion of liquids or gases.

The diffuser plate operates on the Bernoulli principle and conservation of mass. As fluid passes through the constricted inlet of a nozzle, its velocity increases and pressure decreases. The diffuser plate, positioned downstream, provides an expanded cross-sectional area. This expansion causes the fluid velocity to decrease while its static pressure recovers, converting kinetic energy back into pressure energy. The specific geometry of the plate's openings (e.g., tapered holes, honeycomb structure) guides the flow to achieve a uniform velocity profile and laminar flow at the exit.
